Family and Child-Friendly Events and Activities during FIFA World Cup™

Stakeholder Relations Director at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) Khaled Al Suwaidi stressed that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ is going to be the most accessible World Cup edition for disabled people in history, pointing out that Qatar has succeeded in raising international standards for access and movement during the preparation for hosting mega sports events, by including the requirements of fans with disabilities in all aspects of planning and operational processes for the tournament.

Sensory rooms will also be offered at different stadiums to provide neuro-divergent fans with the ability to watch matches in a quieter space, equipped with assistive technology and managed by expert staff. The rooms will be installed by the SC and local stakeholders. (QNA)

Sensory Room at Education City Stadium

Education City Stadium is home to the country’s first permanent sensory room, with spectacular views from Skybox 1. Designed for people who find the stadium environment too stimulating or overwhelming, the Sensory Room offers a calm and nurturing space to enjoy the game. It houses interactive games, fidget toys, and noise canceling headphones, as well as catering facilities.
The sensory room will benefit spectators on the autism spectrum or those who have a sensory processing disability, intellectual disability, mental health issue, or dementia.

Tickets to access sensory rooms can be purchased on FIFA’s website.

Sensory rooms are also available at Al Bayt Stadium, Lusail Stadium, FIFA Fan Fest located at Al-Bidda Park and Corniche-Global Street Carnival.

Qatar Foundation's Ability Friendly Program

It is an initiative that supports people of all abilities to engage in sporting and developmental activities. The program includes sports programs, specialized camps and events that are tailored to participants' individual needs. 

Ability Friendly Fun Day: Join a fun day where children and adults of all abilities can engage in recreational sports - football, swimming, cricket and playball- with our ability friendly coaches.

Open to children aged four years and over0 Cost: QAR50 per person; pre-registration is required and should be done via the Education City app.

Customized Private Sessions: International fans can book customized sessions in swimming or football with Ability Friendlye experts at Education City's Recreation Center. Available to individuals aged four years and over with physical or intellectual disabilities. The Olympic size swimming pool is equipped with a pool lift that provides persons with disabilities with a safe and simple way to enter and exit the pool.

Private sessions are only available upon request and must be booked at least 24 hours in advance by emailing abilityfriendly@qf.org.qa or contacting +974 3068 9576.

The Children's Art Exhibition, Reesha: We Welcome the World to Qatar 2022™

Qatar National Library, in collaboration with Hamad Bin Khalifa University and as part of Qatar-MENASA 2022, is organizing the Reesha art exhibition of children's works under the slogan, “We welcome the world to Qatar 2022™”. The exhibition aims to showcase Qatar’s efforts in preparing for the World Cup through the stadiums it built to host this global event. In addition, it strives to help children connect and keep pace with contemporary events using the arts and by consolidating the means of creative and cultural development.

The exhibition will be accessible to all; audio-descriptive bilingual guides, descriptions of the paintings in Braille, and high-contrast tactile images will be provided for guests with impaired vision.

Al Bidda Park

Al Bidda Park features beautiful sweeping lawns and beds bursting with flowers. Whether you are into running, playing, yoga, or sampling good food and drinksa, there is something for everyone. This will also be home to the FIFA Fan Fest.

Each play areas designed with equipment for children with disabilities. Electric gold carts are available to assist guests with limited mobility in moving around the park.

Dune bashing experience for wheelchair users.
